Young players today
He might not be that popular here at WHU but he is bang on the money in what he says about young players trying to break into first team football today :-

He's getting stick because:

a) He is stating the fucking bleedin' obvious
b) He offers no solution
c) He comes from a club that is a major factor in causing the problem

Re: YOUNG PLAYERS TODAY
"Lampard, now at MLS side New York City, had 13 years at Chelsea but says were he 18 now he would not be picked."

Were he at any other club than one manged by his uncle and old man when he was 18 and the fat cunt would never have been picked anyway.

Poor Sunday League player at best.

I don't understand the stick.

Yes he's stating the obvious he's a big profile in England football so it's good that he's talking out.

One of the problems is the home-grown quota is a shambles and doesn't actually benefit the English game because there are players of many nationalities who quality.

Fucking Alex Song is considered home-grown and he's an established international with Cameroon.

Home-grown should be English or British, that will encourage teams to produce players for the first team rather than flooding their youth teams with youngsters from all over the world.

It's not THE answer, but surely it's a step in the right direction?

Re: YOUNG PLAYERS TODAY
Would he have been given the chance at such a young age if his Uncle and Dad weren't in charge? He was a good player for us of course, but nowhere near the natural talent of Rio, Carrick, Cole etc he is however a wonderful example of a less naturally talented player working his bollocks off to make the most of his opportunity.

The management team at the time treated him very similarly to how Allardyce treated Nolan last season. That was the reason the fans never took to him, no other reason.

What I don't like about this viewpoint is that, it's virtually blaming the rest of the premiership for not bringing through players, while Chelsea raised the bar the points total and premiership domination everyone else is playing catch up.

What are these clubs supposed to do, just sit back and fall behind, and bring in youngsters for the rest of the top clubs to gobble up when they've reached a certain playing level? No, they will try their fucking hardest to have short term solutions, and as cheap as they can, which means looking abroad.

It's nonsense from Lampard. He should be backing a domestic/youth policy in premiership squad selection, and pointing out how chelsea buying foreign kids on big money before they are 17 to name as 'home grown' in a few years is a bad idea. Not slagging off the premierships other clubs for failing to bring through kids.

Re: YOUNG PLAYERS TODAY
He is spot on. But he hasn't said anything ground breaking has he?

It's difficult for youngsters to break through. Wow. Amazing. We know it's difficult you fucking mong.

And it depends where you are playing. If you are a 17 year old at Chelsea, Man Utd, Arsenal or Man City then, yes, it's fucking difficult and you would need to be absolutely fucking out of this world as a player.

Lower down it's hard. But it happens. When he was at West Ham he broke through at 17. But that was West Ham. He was a decent player at that age. So he broke through. he wouldn't have at a big club.

And to be honest, he got more game time than he deserved because I can recall him having some stinkers and not getting dropped or subbed. Which was what pissed alot of people off. At another club he may not have had so much game time.

But, anyway, as I said, spot on but then if I said London buses were red I'd be spot on but everybody else knows they are red anyway.

Re: YOUNG PLAYERS TODAY
"The way the Premier League is it's so competitive, it's not easy for young boys to break through"

"Those late teens early 20's, you can lose a young player."

"There are questions that need to be answered that may help young boys get the quality they need at a younger age because that is a huge part of your development"

"I think you can lose potentially top players."

That's all he said. Hardly ground breaking stuff from LAMPSY. Hardly worth being made into article on the BBC.

Chelsea ruined everything, and now everyone else is to blame.
